Fern Thomas

Fern Thomas is a finance leader with deep expertise in professional services and non-profit organizations, and an unwavering passion for mission-driven work. As President of Camp UOTS, Fern is devoted to nurturing a community where children and their families feel supported, inspired, and connected. Her leadership is grounded not only in financial discipline, but in a heartfelt commitment to ensuring the camp remains a place of joy, growth, and belonging for generations to come.

This role holds special meaning for Fern as the granddaughter of the camp’s founder, Eve Ruthfield. She is dedicated to honoring and advancing her grandmother’s vision by building a strong, sustainable organization that will preserve and extend that legacy in perpetuity.

Professionally, Fern has held Senior Management positions at several multinational organizations in a variety of industries. She previously served as President of a registered investment advisor and as CFO of Christie’s. She began her career at PwC.

Her nonprofit experience includes serving as CFO of the New York Restoration Project, where she partnered closely with leadership and the Board to advance its mission. Fern also serves on multiple boards, including Calvert Impact, Calvert Impact Capital, and New Yorkers for Parks, where she chairs audit and finance committees. A CPA with an MBA from Rutgers University, Fern is committed to leveraging her expertise to strengthen Camp UOTS, ensuring its long-term sustainability while deepening its impact on children and their families.
